Writing
I never saw myself as a serious writer. I won a Young Authors' award in 4th grade for a ridiculous comedic adventure tale called Signs. This was right after the movie released, mind you. Except this Signs was about three misguided alien monsters that were caged in a deserted backlot with signs that clearly warned any intruders not to free the beasts. Three boys, of course, release them and mind-numbingly stupid antics ensue.
During middle school I was just horrible, I hardly got any opportunities to write and when I did, it was riddled with grammatical errors and was B work at best. In high school, I discovered my hidden potential thanks to some very challenging and encouraging teachers. My in-class-essays in particular were very strong. I also have written a few featured articles on The Onion, College Humor, and Urban Dictionary. |
