Naperville Fine Arts Festival
Fine Arts Festival, Portfolio Interviews is a short subject that I directed, filmed, and edited.

I was approached by Mr. Jones, an art teacher at Neuqua, who requested a video to be show on loop during the fine arts festival. He wasn't sure what he wanted, but he supplied me with AP art students and just asked for some sit-down interviews about the importance of art portfolios. I didn't have much direction so I began full steam ahead. I made a critical decision early on regarding the lighting and my use of b-roll.
I decided not to have any b-roll over any of the speakers. Instead I took 25sec max interview segments and pieced together the video. The lighting and iris eliminated any distractions from the speaker, the music was popular choice, and no one subject was on screen for too long. With these three elements in mind, I feel I made the right decision to not layer any b-roll. I was particular with the interviews' setup and my use of two-point lighting to capture that look I had envisioned. The final product was well received by the festival goers.
